Connecticut Chapter Upcoming Events

Following the success of our recent “outside the box” Design Slam, we have been encouraged to try yet another first for the Chapter. Reflecting on our Chapter’s recent growth, it finally occurred to us that it might just be time to get together socially and enjoy an extended opportunity to get to know each other better. Misanthropes, curmudgeons and the socially awkward (such as this web master) may be excused; however, the vast majority of CT UPA chapter members are cordially invited, even encouraged, to meet up at Piatti’s restaurant (I'm sorry, Ristorante) in Glastonbury on Thursday evening August 26th between 6:30 and 8:00. Here is a great chance to enjoy superb appetizers, consume fine drinks, and get a chance to say more than a simple “Hello” to those members you often see, but never seem to talk with. So, how great is this? This can be as “over-the-top-exciting” as those Freshman Mixers in college! No boring talks, no endless Power Point slides, minimal use of the phrase, “User Experience.” Simply good food, drink, and fellowship. I told you this was outside the box.
Oh, and did we mention that we plan to raffle off door prizes just for showing up. We have finally pinned down our criminal Treasurer who has been siphoning off thousands of dollars from the treasury for the past two years, and made him cough up a few bucks for gifts. We might offer gift cards for Amazon, maybe an iPod Nano, a MacBook Pro with the new Intel i7 processor, an iPad, a Lamborghini V12-powered Murciélago LP640 . . . or not. But there will be some door prizes. Drag yourself on out to Piatti’s for what promises to be a relaxed and fun evening. Map below and again we will start at 6:30 PM and continue until Michael cannot afford any more drinks.

This one is going to be BIG! We have lined up one of the real "heavy-hitters" in our industry to speak to us. It is a secret right, now but I can tell you that this meeting will be held at a larger venue than Open Solutions, and we are expecting a large crowd.There will be an admission charge for this event (for non-members that is), and we are anticipating some super door-prizes. Keep checking back to this website for updates as details are firmed up.
